Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

We had our appointment with Dr. W on Tuesday. Both of us were a little nervous for what he was going to say. We were the only ones in the waiting room and were taken back by his nurse and went over our new patient paperwork. Once Dr. W came in a calm came over me. He smiled and began to talk to Beau about his low kruger score and basically told him that with an IUI it would be a non-issue, because they pick the "a-team" as Beau put it! Then he began to talk about PCOS and how it is still a widely unknown syndrome but that there would be a few preliminary tests we would do (insulin resistance, blocked tubes, ovarian reserve, blood work). Once the initial testing is done the plan would be to do a monitored IUI cycle with Clomid.

Bear Hope

For some time now, I have had it on my heart to be a light in this struggle and not be silent about this issue of infertility! I do not believe you have to go through infertility alone or any struggle for that matter. I have started this community of hope that you can learn more about HERE. Our initial goal will be to fund treatment for Beau and I and our long term vision will be to help support other families going through struggles as well!

Let's Talk About It

Many people know where Beau and I stand on finances. We don't believe in accumulating debt. Period!

A few years ago we paid off 30K of student loans in about a year and vowed to never go into debt again for any expense (we do still have our mortgage). We went through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University in the Spring 2014 and have had the opportunity since to volunteer our time as leaders for the past 2 9-week classes offered at our church.

So with that being said... Infertility Treatment is EXPENSIVE! There, I said it!

Considering that many people never even think about having to pay to have a baby, its not something that we prepared for. As we begin the process it can be very overwhelming to look at costs of treatment options. The crazy thing is that the majority of it is NOT covered by insurance so it will be out of pocket for Beau and I. Treatment costs range from Oral Medications to IVF. Here is a great article about general costs of fertility treatments: The Cost of Infertility Treatment

Baby Steps: Infertility Awareness 5K

This a community event to raise awareness for infertility. Beau and I are asking our friends and family to join us for this event! This year Sarah's Laughter will give one couple struggling with infertility a chance at becoming parents by giving them a $10,000 FAMILY BUILDING GRANT that can be put toward fertility treatment or adoption! The great thing about it is that each person that registers gets a ticket for the door prize. So the more we have on our team the more chances we have to get the grant! JOIN OUR TEAM TODAY!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
